Description

Pharmacological properties
Albendazole belongs to the group of benzimidazoles that inhibit the polymerization of tubulin into microtubulin, resulting in disruption of nutrient and metabolite (adenosine triphosphate and glucose) uptake and intracellular transport, as well as a decrease in mitochondrial reactions by inhibiting fumarate reductase, leading to parasite death. When administered orally, albendazole is absorbed in the digestive tract and distributed into organs and tissues; it is excreted mainly in urine and feces. The bioavailability of albendazole is low. The time to reach the maximum concentration of albendazole sulfoxide is 2–5 hours. It binds to plasma proteins at 70%. It is excreted in bile as the active metabolite albendazole sulfoxide, and only a small amount is excreted in urine.

Method of administration and dosage
Administer orally at a dose of 1 tablet per 8–10 kg of body weight (for dogs and cats).
For treatment – administer twice with an interval of 7–8 days.
Preventive deworming should be carried out once every 3 months.
