Description

Pharmacological properties
Albendazole belongs to the group of benzimidazoles, which inhibit tubulin polymerization in microtubules, resulting in disruption of nutrient uptake and intracellular transport, as well as metabolic processes (adenosine triphosphate and glucose), and also reduce mitochondrial reactions by inhibiting fumarate reductase, causing parasite death. After oral administration, albendazole is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and penetrates organs and tissues; it is primarily excreted via urine and feces. Albendazole has low bioavailability. The time to reach maximum concentration of albendazole sulfoxide is 2-5 hours. It binds to plasma proteins by 70%. It is excreted via bile as the active metabolite albendazole sulfoxide, with only a small amount excreted in the urine.

Method of administration and dosage
Orally at a dose of 1 tablet per 8-10 kg of animal body weight (dogs and cats).
For treatment – administered twice with an interval of 7-8 days.
Preventive deworming is performed once every 3 months.
