Pharmacological Properties of Septifril – Throat Pain Relief Medication
Septifril tablets contain Decamethoxine, a quaternary ammonium compound belonging to the group of cationic surfactants. Decamethoxine binds to phosphate groups of microbial cell membrane lipids, disrupting their permeability and leading to cell destruction.
Decamethoxine has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial action. It is active against Staphylococcus spp. (including penicillin-resistant strains of S. aureus), Streptococcus spp., Stomatococcus spp., Corynebacterium spp. (including C. diphtheriae), as well as Candida albicans, dermatophytes, and other yeasts. It exhibits bactericidal, fungicidal, and sporicidal activity and also inactivates diphtheria exotoxin. Decamethoxine does not suppress specific or nonspecific immunological responses in humans.
